Man Who Tried To Rob Lil Tjay Greeted With A Hail Of Bullets
Investigators have disclosed in a recently filed report that the man accused of shooting Lil Tjay was after the rap star's expensive jewels.
According to the police, Mohamed Konate, 27, and his accomplices were in a white BMW when they parked their vehicle next to a red Dodge Durango in a shopping center in Edgewater, New Jersey.
Lil Tjay and his two mates were in the Durango. The three men were confronted by Konate, who pulled out a revolver and aimed it at them.
Instead, a shootout broke out.
Both Lil Tjay and Konate, 27, took hits. Konate was taken to a hospital in New York City by his claimed accomplices, who then left him there. He received treatment for several bullet wounds.
Konate was stabilized before being taken into custody. The offender was accused of trying to assassinate Lil Tjay, a rapper from the Bronx whose real name is Tione Merritt, according to the state's charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, and firearms violations.
Tjay's associates Jeffrey Valdez, 24, and Antoine Boyd, 22, all from the Bronx, are also charged. Boyd was also shot during the altercation, but he is doing OK.
Boyd was accused of having a weapon in violation of the law in the second degree.
Lil Tjay, a Columbia Records artist, was shot numerous times in the thoracic cavity, which houses the heart and lungs, and is now described as being in "serious but stable condition."
The rapper has not yet regained consciousness, according to the most recent information.
