Tyrell Malacia Welcome to Old Trafford
For Feyenoord left back Tyrell Malacia, Manchester United and Feyenoord have reached a $12.9 million agreement.
Despite being on United's radar this transfer window, the 22-year-old was ready to sign with French club Lyon as the Old Trafford club concentrated on their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong.
However, as the De Jong negotiations progressed, United turned their attention to Malacia's transaction and reached an agreement with Feyenoord for £12.9 million plus an additional £1.7 million in add-ons, surpassing Lyon's offer of £12.9 million all-in.
Malacia, a high-energy modern full-back with five caps for Holland, must now choose whether or not he wants to transfer to Old Trafford, where he will face Luke Shaw.
Malacia, who is represented by the same agencies as De Jong, is to be replaced by Chelsea's Ian Maatsen, according to Feyenoord.
The 25-year-old Barcelona midfielder De Jong is the main target for the Premier League team, and new boss Ten Hag is eager to bring in the talented playmaker to upgrade his back line.
United wants to wait till De Jong's signing is completed before moving on to other acquisitions like Malacia.
